Local Philanthropist Supports Wounded Heroes
Int’l Order of the Rainbow for Girls Project Benefits Hope For
The Warriors®

JACKSONVILLE, NC, August 22, 2011–Bobbie Geary Dupuis,
Grand Worthy Advisor of the International Order of the
Rainbow for Girls of North Carolina for 2011-2012 has dedicated
her year’s project to Hope For The Warriors®, a national
nonprofit organization that supports wounded U.S. service
members, their families, and families of the fallen.
The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a fraternal,
nonprofit organization that fosters leadership, service, patriotism
and self-confidence. A key aspect to being a Rainbow Girl is
supporting and volunteering within the charities within their
communities. Each year, every Rainbow jurisdiction supports a
different charitable organization. Other organizations have
included the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the American Cancer
Society.
“I chose to support Hope For The Warriors® because it goes
right along with my theme for the year of Hope and Celebration,”
Dupuis said. “Coming from a military family I have a great love
and respect for the military and I wanted to raise awareness for
these great men and women across the state and hopefully make
an impact in the lives of these service members as well as the
girls that I lead.”

At this point in time, Dupuis’s project encompasses two separate
events: the Run for the Sun 10K/ 1-mile walk and a statewide
donation jar effort. The Run for the Sun is being spearheaded by
Emily Jordan, a local Rainbow Girl. This event will take place  at
North Topsail Beach Park on September 24, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.
Registration is $25. For more information on how to register for
this event, please contact Lauren Welch at
lwelch@hopeforthewarriors.org, 910.238.9040, or visit http:

Betty Geary, Mother Advisor of the Onslow Assembly of the
International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, is supporting her
granddaughter’s year-long project through initiating a statewide
project of donation jars. More than 70 jars have been placed
throughout North Carolina, labeled with a Hope For The
Warriors® sticker to collect donations for the organization.
Other parts of her support of Hope For The Warriors® is a visit
to the Wounded Warriors Barracks-East at Camp Lejeune, NC
as well as her participation in the May Run For The Warriors®
5K at Jacksonville High School.
“Hope For The Warriors® thanks Bobbie for her efforts to
support and honor our military members,” Peggy Rochon, Hope
For The Warriors® Southeast Regional Director said.  “We are
excited about the events that this project will entail to support
our military families who have sacrificed so much.”

The mission of Hope For The Warriors® (www.
